For my initial test I was using BigRingVR for my first turbo session and to my delight the PC picked up all 4 sensors without fail, and without any hassle. I was planning to use the stick to pick up feeds from my Garmin speed sensor, Garmin cadence sensor, My Fenix 3 HR (via the broadcast function), and the Limits Power meter.

On Windows 10 (the PC I used) I actually downloaded the app from the Windows 10 store which seems to be the Garmin Connect App that works on windows mobile and windows 10.

Is it turns out basically what it wants you to do is to download Garmin Connect to your PC which will in turn install the ANT drivers to your PC.

The manual is pretty basic, but basically it directs you to /start which is slightly misleading because that page shows you a bunch of device categories, none of which is the USB stick, and asks you to select which device you have. Onbivously it will fit into a USB port but for comparison I have photographed it here against my thumb. The Product itself arrived in a small square paper packet.Īnd within the packet was the stick, and a few manuals.

Note: the Wahoo KICKR doesn’t have the ability to turn off the standard ANT+ unlike the Tacx NEO, so the dual ANT and FEC creating the small interference troughs shown at regular intervals. In a post yesterday I reached out for some advice because in an impusive move I ordered a Garmin ANT+ USB Stick from Amazon and it was arriving today, but I wasn’t sure if it was going to work with the kit I had because of the lack of information about compatibility with my other gear on the Garmin website.Īnyhow, the USB stick arrived today, and after some advice from DC Rainmaker (Ray) I was convinced that all would be OK so I decided to forge ahead. I tried position 4 with the Anself in a Tour De Zwift catchup ride with 250+ people and I’m confident that it’s the best position now for me. It’s also interesting to note that the Anself performs better than the Garmin in terms of avg fails, despite being less than half the price! (See them on Amazon here: Anself USB ANT+ stick / Garmin USB ANT+ stick). It is also interesting, that for me, the powered USB hub made no huge improvement to a quality shielded USB extension cable placed in the appropriate position. It’s clear that position 4 gets the lowest avg fails and searches for the Anself, whereas the Garmin appears to prefer position 3.

Here is a summary including the averaging of the searches and RXfails for each adapter in each of the 4 positions. This actually made the signal worse for me. I also raised the Ansell off the floor in Position 4, and looped it over a cardboard box (to try and minimise any further interference. The Garmin doesn’t perform as well as the Anself in this position, which is strange as the pedals are very close to the ant+ adapter now. So further away from the KICKR, but this got the best results yet! Since moving the adapter forwards improved the signal, I took it even further forwards and placed it just under the front wheel. Moving the dingles forward seemed to improve things a little, still with one search for the KICKR but less Avg fails: All tests were done in the same position, same USB port, and same extension cable. The Garmin had less searches than the Anself, but more fails.

I next tried to position the stick just under the KICKR v5. Although not dreadful, there were 5 times that the devices tried to repair, and over 51% fails. As expected this gave the worst results as the PC is in front of my bike. First off I plugged one ANT+ adapter directly into the PC.
